Blogging as a Gen Z

First entry! yay! As the title suggests I am a member of the younger generation who never actually experienced the golden age of livejournal and other similar platforms. I basically didn't have an internet presence because I mostly wasn't even allowed to (actual benefits of helicopter parenting!) but come highschool I was exposed to the same social media slops as everyone else, the likes of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. As a Filipino, Facebook is the primary social media platform we use which I absolutely ABHOR. I just don't feel comfortably safe when using that platform. Its like there are a hundred people looking at me all at once. Twitter has been my safe haven for the past few years which is um... kinda sounds unhealthy ngl (especially at the age of Musk). For all its flaws, I have been able to discover new interests from people I do not know personally. The thing about me is I suck at talking to people on the internet so I haven't exactly made any friends.

So why blogging in dreamwidth? to be quirky of course! In all seriousness I just wanted to try blogging and have been looking for sites to do it. Initially, I was going to use blogger but when I got to it, I saw the monetizing feature and was turned off quite a lot. Tumblr still feels very social media to me but I might get into it to post art and stuff. I researched (googled) what sites I could use and saw that people used livejournal the way I wanted to. Then I found out that was dead for a long time now and had to go back to square one. This site isn't actually new to me as a fan of Joseimuke mobages since a lot of translators use this platform. It never occurred to me that it is basically a blogging platform lol. So here I am!

A lot of young people probably have their own blogs so I'm not unique in that aspect but most people around me my age are just all in the main social media. So basically this is my sacred refuge! a part of me only the closest and the most stranger to me could know. Good Luck to Future me and this blog!
